Bus Routes and Schedule Information

MAX operates hourly fixed bus routes and an evening Twilight Route Monday through Saturday. There is no Sunday service. Fixed route buses depart from the Padnos Transportation Center located at 8th Street and Lincoln at the top of the hour every hour and return to the transfer center at :50 to allow for passenger transfers. Wait for the bus directly at the bus stop sign or shelter so the bus will see you and stop.

The Padnos Transportation Center is an inter-modal hub for MAX city bus service, Amtrak, and Indian Trails. The center has outdoor bus shelters, a heated indoor waiting area with vending machines, benches, public telephone, water fountain, and restrooms. MAX bus passes, Indian Trails intercity bus tickets, and Amtrak tickets (from an unmanned kiosk ticketing machine) may be purchased at the Padnos Center.

General Transit Feed Specification (GTFS) Data

The General Transit Feed Specification (GTFS) is a worldwide common format for sharing public transportation schedules and associated geographic information.

GTFS datasets, or “feeds,” allow public transit agencies to publish their transit data in a standardized way. A GTFS feed is presented as a series of text files with comma-separated values that conform to the specification. Each file is essentially a table in the relational database that is the whole package.

TERMS & GUIDELINES FOR USE OF GTFS DATA: (1) GTFS data is provided without warranties; (2) no availability guarantees are expressed or implied; (3) the Macatawa Area Express (MAX) retains full rights to the data; (4) MAX reserves the right to use the MAX logo; third party applications may NOT display the MAX logo; the MAX Logo is an indicator only for official, agency-supplied materials; (5) third party applications should be presented as such; they should not be presented as being endorsed by, or affiliated with MAX.

Last Updated: 9/17/2024

The GTFS Feed is updated as transit data changes, or at a minimum is updated annually.

2019 PASSENGER SURVEY

On August 29, 30 and September 1, two MSU students assisted MAX marketing by handing out the customer satisfaction and trip purpose surveys, and encouraged passengers to fill them out on both the fixed routes and Reserve-A-MAX paratransit service.  The students were able to collect surveys from more than 200 transit riders.

We are so thankful to all the passengers and the students that took time out of your schedule to assist us and review the service we have been providing.

We proud of the responses we received and we’ve attached them below to share with the public.

Bus Stop Closures

Below are the latest route detours or service disruptions. Occasionally we experience pop-up closures. During extreme winter conditions, bus routes may be altered to ensure safe and reliable service and snow routes may take effect. Snow routes are noted by the dotted lines on the route maps, and will be in effect only as necessary. Expect delays during heavy snow or ice.

Customer Service will be able to confirm any temporary disruptions to service.

Please continue to visit our website for updates on our services.
